New Project “Piġuqtuq Entrepreneurial Inspiration Project” Commencing with SEF & Collaborators

Sustainable Economic Futures (SEF) is excited to announce that after four years of dedicated and collaborative work, they will be commencing the Entrepreneurial Development (ED) project “Piġuqtuq Entrepreneurial Inspiration Project”.  The Entrepreneurial ED project “Piġuqtuq Entrepreneurial Inspiration Project” will be run in the Northwest Arctic Borough, located in the U.S state of Alaska. This initiative is a person-centered community lead economic development program. It builds the capacity of the community to support entrepreneurship, enabling the creation of its own economy through its own businesses. A local facilitator will be hired who will work with the would-be and existing entrepreneurs in all the 11 villages, along with recruitment of community volunteers who will bring experience and knowledge to the project. SEF will be in the region working with the Project Management team in May 2023.

“Red Dog is proud to partner on this initiative that will support local entrepreneurs to create economic benefits throughout the Northwest Arctic Borough region. This partnership aligns with our longstanding commitment to help build healthy, vibrant communities in the areas where we operate,” said Les Yesnik, General Manager, Teck Red Dog Operations.

Alongside the project management team and sponsors, SEF looks forward to seeing significant social and economic impact through entrepreneurial economic development, achieved and sustained by entrepreneurs and the community.
